Friday Night Fun!

Daddy has to work this weekend on a program release which means that mommy and Lennox are having some fun time. We started with a trip to the library, but it was closed. Lennox cried so hard about it. I hate that for him. Tomorrow we will try again. Then we went shopping and got Lennox a preschool computer program. Now we are home, both of us squeaky clean from our baths, in our coziest jammies, and watching Olivia on Nick Jr. When I saw the ad for the new Olivia series last week I was so excited because we love the Olivia books around here. So I have been recording them on the DVR since they come on in the morning and now we watch them all the time.

Lennox has been such a big boy this week. He told me yesterday that he was "growing up" and I would have to agree (sadly agree). Then today he told me he didn't want to grow up. I, of course, told him that I didn't want him to grow up either. But, I am getting the little hints and clues. Usually when I drop him off at school he insists on two or three hugs and kisses and then calls out "I love you mama" about two or three times as I walk out the door and there is trouble if I happen not to hear him and don't respond. But since the holidays Lennox just goes right off to play when I drop him off. I have to beg for a kiss and a hug. Then today he told me that a triangle has three sides and a square has four sides. He has also given up the drink cup (sippy cup). He no longer has any interest in it. Now we are having a hard time getting milk in him and are pretty sure he is going to turn into an Eggo. He eats them night and day :-) There are some other little growing up clues too. Like the fact that he is already in size 4 clothing. I had to go get some new shirts and pants. I usually only do the clothes shopping in the fall and the spring. Now we are having to shop in between..phew! He also needed new shoes, size 10 and a half. Holy cow! Where is my baby going? At least he still wants to rock in the rocking chair before bed and cuddle any chance he gets. Mama needs her Lennox fix each day :-)

Some Mammoth Fun!

During the long MLK weekend, mommy left the boys to have some fun at home and went for a girls scrapbook weekend at the lakehouse. We left on Friday and on Sunday the husbands came down with the kiddos. We decided to go to the Natural History Museum in Gainesville. It was awesome. None of us had ever been, and best of all it was FREE! Gotta love that. In the lobby was this huge mastadon and a little further back there was a giant mammoth.

There was so much to explore and so many fossils and skeletons. I have never seen so many in one place. Lennox especially loved the jaguars and sharks. And he got to check it all out with his buddy, Kate.

There were hands-on activities everywhere. Like this, where Lennox could look at ocean life.

And these cool drawers that opened up from a seascape wall. Inside were all kinds of fossils and bones and replicas. Really cool!

They have a huge butterfly garden and we got to see the butterfly labs. We were even able to see some butterflies coming out of their cocoons. The butterfly garden had a little entrance fee and we decided not to do that. With as many trips to the lake as we take, it will be nice to have something to look forward to on another trip.

The kiddies always love the lake and running wild in the backyard. That evening they helped daddy grill out. They seriously stayed outside the entire time he was cooking :-) We all spent the night relaxing and playing some board games. The lakehouse was a wonderful little MLK weekend getaway.

This weekend we celebrated mommy's birthday with family on Saturday and on Sunday took some time to head to the park to play. Lennox loved every minute of it!

Such a big boy, climbing this all by himself. I think it was harder for mom to stay away and not hover behind him. Big step for me :-)

On Monday night, my boys went shopping for my birthday gift. It was really cute. Lennox ran home to tell me he got my gifts. Lucky for daddy he didn't say what they were. This year was the first year he sang all of "Happy Birthday" to me and it was so adorable. And now that my birthday is over. I can start planning Lennox's. Woohoo!

Happy New Year!

We spent the last few days of 2008 finishing up with some holiday fun. We went to the Festival of Lights in St. Augustine with Lennox's cousins.

Then we went to spend a few days with my parents. Lennox had a lot of fun playing with his cousins. Mommy ended up getting sick down there, so it was nice to have some extra hands to help with my little bit.

On New Year's Eve we went out with our friends to a Japanese Steakhouse. It was the same one Lennox had been to for his cousin David's birthday. This time he was not as enthusiastic about the fire in front of him and it kind of freaked him out.

This was a rare moment of lovin between Lennox and his friend Kate. My friend Kelly and I call them Harold and Opal because they are a lot like my Aunt Opal and Uncle Harold. They bickered all the time, but loved each other tremendously. Kate and Lennox are the same way. They bicker a lot, but Kate tells everyone she is going to marry Lennox.  Next year they may be going to the same Pre-K so that should be interesting.

On New Year's Day we hung around the house. Mommy was still getting over strep throat. Lennox showed us how he could play with patterns. Mama was impressed. I hadn't taught him that at home. Such a big boy!

We cuddled in bed and took a long nap that day and then our friends came over that night for some games.

We celebrated Daddy's birthday that weekend. Once at my parents and then again the next day at Mark's parents. Lennox is a great present helper.

This year is sure to bring many more adventures for Lennox. He is getting so big, learning so much, and has such an amazing personality showing through now.
