Lennox had a big huge surprise filled birthday yesterday. On Friday night Mark and I stayed up until 1am putting together this giant surprise. Mark and I went in with my parents, his parents, and my grandmother to get Lennox a wooden Thomas the Train railway set. It was an engineering feat. Mark wanted it perfect and thought Lennox would be annoyed by tracks that ended and did not go anywhere so we toiled with it for hours and now it loops around under and over.
We got Lennox up on his birthday and brought him downstairs and he screamed "Thomas the Train" and ran over to it. Would not eat breakfast or have a cup of milk, he was so engrossed. We were lucky to get him dressed and out the door to his party.
Every day this last week Lennox woke up saying "my party's coming." When we got to Kids Kampus for his party he was crazy excited, running around like a madman in the water all by himself while we set up the table and waited for his guests to come. All the decorations and the cake were Mickey Mouse of course. Lennox played so hard in the water with his cousins. He stopped just long enough to eat some chips and cake and open presents. Then he ran around the park area some more before splashing in the water one last time. We all had so much fun and the weather was decent with a breeze from the river so we didn't fry outside. After the party, everyone came over to our house to see the train set. Lennox played some more and then we all laid down for a much needed nap.
When we woke up we all watched The Bee Movie which Lennox got from Mark's sister. Then we headed to McDonald's for Lennox's birthday dinner. He wanted chicken nuggets :-) After that we went to the Friendship Fountain and caught the water taxi to the landing where we got birthday cake ice cream. (Mommy's camera battery died before we hit the water unfortunately).
By the time Lennox crashed at 10pm he was beat and so were mommy and daddy but it was such a perfect day for our big boy. And it turns out our train set investment was a wise one. Lennox ran directly from our stairs when he woke up this morning to the train and has been playing on it all day long :-) And I can see mommy and daddy getting a little obsessed with it too. There are so many cool sets and accessories we could add to it :-)
