Our Little Astronaut

Day one of Spring Break and it found us on a road trip to the Kennedy Space Center. We figured our little astronaut needed to check it out. Definitely a learning experience for all of us. Mama hadn't been there since she was little and daddy had never been there. We started the day with a bus tour to the launch pads. At our first stop we climbed to the top of the viewing station to look out at Launch Pad 39. At the second stop we checked out the Apollo spaceships and control center. We drove small lunar rovers, pretended like we were astronauts, and took a walk to the place where families and VIP's get to watch the launches.

At the third tour stop we checked out the Space Station, got to see how they build the pieces for the station and checked out some mock-ups. Then back to the main visitor complex to the Rocket Garden.

Later we visited the Astronaut Hall of Fame where Lennox got to run Mission Control.

And blast off in this:

Such a fun day. The weather was nice and mild. Lennox loved EVERY minute of it. He was the loudest most excited person on the bus tours and every time we got off at a new stop. And of course, we couldn't leave without this outfit. He put it on and all of a sudden he was GROWN UP. He had a new little walk and was talking space stations and moon rocks. Lots of talk about science and math and being a pilot. Part of mommy and daddy really wants little Lennox's astronaut dream to come true for big boy Lennox one day :-) It is almost bedtime and mommy is a little worried about getting this outfit off. We are planning to hang it up in Lennox's "Rocket Ship" room as he calls it.

Tomorrow more Spring Break fun. A trip to see Monsters and Aliens and a new car for daddy.

Trying to get the perfect shot..

Preparing for the rocket ship birthday party that will happen in two months. This precious face will be on the invitations, in a very inventive way. We took some time trying to get the perfect Buggy shot. My baby is growing up.

So happy Spring Break is here and we have some time to play. Tomorrow a trip to the Kennedy Space Center with the boys. Woohoo! Hoping Lennox doesn't stow away on the spaceship like the dogs on Spacebuddies...lol.

Unexpected moments...

The new big boy bed has been a WILD ride. After getting a monstrously huge box spring and dealing with replacing that, we finally have the bed in place, at the right height (even though we had to get a step stool for the bed). Lennox is still getting adjusted to the bed and falling asleep in it. He is not sleeping well and is having a hard time falling asleep. Things are slowly getting better. But, we have all been sick and so our routines are obviously effected. Here is our little buddy on night #1 in the bed, before his solar system bedding arrived.

As you can see mama had him tucked in, pillows on both sides in case Lennox rolled over too far. I do have to say, this bed is incredibly comfortable. I ended up climbing in with him one night to settle him down.

One of the things that we have unexpectedly come to love is reading the bedtime story in bed. Lennox likes to cuddle up under the covers, we have to prop up the pillows and he lays his head in our lap or leans in close and we share Peter Rabbit or Does A Kangaroo Have A Mother Too? I love this new little tradition and cuddling up with a book and my little man.

Still working on the finishing touches for Lennox's galaxy. The pics will be up soon. As soon as we all beat this nasty bug we have been passing around :-(

Slip Sliding Fun

"That is so cool."

Those are the words that came out of Lennox's mouth as we watched the space shuttle launch on Sunday night. With the clear skies, we got such an excellent view. We were actually out eating dinner when Mark's mom called to remind us. Of course I was dying for Lennox to see it. It was the best view I have had of a lift off ever! We definitely have to plan a trip to Cocoa Beach for the next launch. Lennox was amazed. Can't wait to see his reaction when we go to the Kennedy Space Center in a week and half :-)

Weekend Recap...

Busy days lately. We are all worn out from running around so much lately. Lennox has been hating going to bed so we decided to make the move to a big boy bed thinking that maybe he needed more space. Last Wednesday we ordered a full size bed for him.

One of the struggles before bed lately is getting Lennox to get dressed for bed. Some days we have to bribe him with a wrestling match with daddy just to get him dressed.

Thursday night was the last night of bed in the crib since we were away over the weekend. Daddy was a sap, telling Lennox how that crib is all he has ever known :-( Mama was a little sad too, and you can see how Lennox was...

A little forlorn...

On Friday we went down to the lake house and went to Silver Springs on Saturday. The weather was nice and we had to pull out the summer clothes and shorts for Lennox. Those legs had not seen daylight in a while. Here he is in the lucky tree at Silver Springs.

Silver Springs has a concert series and Saturday they had the band Kansas (never heard of them). But the opening act was a Southern Rock cover band and Lennox turned into a dancing fool. Who knew he loved Southern Rock. I need to download some to IPod. I guess I should know since he listens to Ozzy Osbourne in the car. Crazy is considered the train song around here because Ozzy says "All aboard" at the beginning of the song. And Lennox knows every word. Crazy baby!

Mama and Lennox on the carousel.

Then some time on the kiddie boats.

When we got home on Sunday it was time to take the crib apart and turn it into the full size bed. Lennox "helped."

The duck needlepoint from Mark's grandma was replaced with a rocket ship painting :-)

Sunday Lennox slept with mommy and daddy. He is a BED HOG! Monday the bed was delivered. We had a snag. Because the bed frame is made from a crib, it is a little higher than normal. With the box spring and the mattress the bed was way way way too high! We ordered a replacement low profile box spring, but it won't be in stock until next Monday :-( So Lennox had another rough night in bed with us. The space bedding should arrive soon and mama and daddy have plans for some more fun decorations for Lennox's room and possibly a comfy plush rocking chair from Pottery Barn :-) Stay tuned for room updates!

It's big boy time...

This will soon be delivered to our house for the big boy bed that is coming on Monday! Big stuff is happening around our house.

Looking Forward To...

A summer trip here, The Great Smoky Mountains, with the family. Hanging out on the Smoky Mountain Railroad, some White Water Rafting, Unicoi State Park, excellent German food in Helen, and a hike to Anna Ruby Falls. Can't wait...

Muscle Man

Night two of gymnastics at My Gym. Lennox was ecstatic to be back. He ran around like a wild man during the free play at the beginning. He was attached to this ball, rolled around all over it, and then made his way to the ball pit where he swung from a rope and jumped in.

When the class began, Lennox sat so still listening to directions. Daddy and I always marvel at how he follows directions. Maybe that is because he doesn't always follow directions at home :-)
The classes begin with a little share time. Tonight's question was what is your favorite dinner. Lennox said "bread." Daddy and I laughed. It is true, our little man loves bread.

Here is Lennox doing his warm-ups. A little butterfly stretch.

Then relay time, crawling and jumping over a rope. Don't know if you can tell from this picture, but Lennox has the "Cross concentration tongue" happening in this pic. Whenever he or daddy or his cousins are concentrating the tongue goes out to the side. So funny!

Listening to the directions for the monkey bar center.

Daddy and I were a little nervous with the monkey bars and how Lennox would do. When Coach Mike called his name to come up Lennox jumped up like he was getting the biggest present ever. So excited! Coach Mike helped him across and when he got to the end he had to walk his feet up the wall and ring the bell hanging from the last rung with his toes. Lennox did great.

Then he got to hang from the side of the monkey bars. Lennox probably hung for a good 30 seconds before he tumbled to the floor and onto the mats. A lot of the other kids cried when they fell. Not our little Lennox, he giggled and was so proud of himself!

Then Lennox went to the balance beam center. He did so good on the balance beam and caught on pretty quickly. When we got home we even had to do this trick again with mommy and daddy walking across a line of the floor and Lennox holding our hands saying "use your balance" and "you not gonna fall."

The last center was this swing. Lennox held on tight while Coach John swung him around. Lennox loved this of course. When he climbed down the coach asked him where he went while he was swinging around and Lennox said "Disney World."

Later that night Lennox reenacted the entire routine at gymnastics. We can't wait to see what he will discover that he can do next week at the gym :-)

Signs of Lennox...

In our sun room we have these beauties hanging up. Lennox's artwork from the last few months. We love having our own little art gallery of Lennox masterpieces.

Hangin' at the Lake!

A few weeks ago we went down to the lake for the day to celebrate Aunt Yee-Yee's (Mark's sister) birthday. Lennox got his fix of running and playing in the wild.

I snapped these adorable pictures of Lennox at Yee-Yee's lot. There is a ramshackle fishing shack on the property. Lennox loves exploring it.

Then he went back to some more exploring :-)
