My Gymnast...
Went to our first class at My Gym tonight. Mama was so impressed. We had taken a free class at a regular gymnastics place and they seemed kind of harsh. Felt like they were trying too hard to groom Olympians and it didn't seem like there was enough play. So we checked out My Gym and Lennox had so much fun. The gym is only for kids under 7 so the staff knew how to interact with the students and there was so much encouragement oozing from them. Some of the cool things he did were climbing the My Gym wall, swinging from the uneven bars, and crawling in tunnels. Lennox got one on one time with the instructors and they worked on teaching him new skills like back flips and front flips. We were sold and signed up for the classes. Plus we got a deal because they are doing an Open House this weekend. No sign up and $5 off each month. WooHoo! He is going to go every Tuesday at 6. Daddy can't wait to join us next week for the fun. I will be sure to post some pictures next week.

Today...
Today we are:
Planning a rocket ship/outer space themed redo of Lennox's room. His choice, of course. Mama is fighting the urge to turn the room into Lennox's own little galaxy with these goodies. Some of which will most definitely have to be part of the new room.

Lennox made it through his first visit to the dentist for a cleaning and check-up. He was such a big boy and it was a proud mama day for sure. My little buddy never ceases to amaze me. Not only did he sit perfectly still during the cleaning, but he carried around the "teeth bag" full of dental supplies with so much pride and insisted on using the new toothbrush tonight. He also asked if he could look at his shiny teeth in the mirror when we got home. Adorable
We also had some fun time with Den and Gran. We learned that Lennox is the "baseball kid" as he calls it. Den bought him a whiffle ball set for being good at the dentist and Lennox is quite the pitcher. Can't wait until he is five and can start tee-ball.
We had a long talk about mama's job. He was amazed that I was a teacher. I know he has heard it before, but I think only now is he understanding that concept. So now I am "mama teacher." And we had a long talk about how my most important job is being his mama.
We also had a good laugh after the bath tonight. Lennox is completely amused with his naked self and he could dance around the mirror looking at "my naked" all night. "Mama look at my naked." One day he will kill me for this post, but it is so funny and we have to fight to get his clothes on after his bath. But when we finally do he is so cuddly in his winter pj's. We have to rock before bed and then practice spelling his name on his coat rack which has his name on it. We name each letter and then sing the Lennox song that mama made up to help him learn how to spell his name. We read our books and Lennox helps me along. He loves Olivia lately and I Will Love You Forever.
Trying really hard to relish the little stuff lately. Lennox is growing up so quickly and there is nothing better than being his mama and watching it all.

Eavesdropping...
Mama is sick on the couch...watching and listening to my boys who are playing on the floor with Lennox's castle. Lots of pretend play, which goes something like this, all in rough and tumble fighter voices...
"It's my castle."
"I'm going to get you king."
"Hahahaha...I got you."
"Oh yeah" (Lennox's new favorite saying, think Kool Aid man)
"Argh" (followed by the sound of some toy men smacking into one another)
"This is my castle now."
"Stop it. We have to run"
"Let's run."
"It's a monster coming, behind you"
"I don't see a monster here! Argh...oh no it's the Hulk" (and the Hulk fists make their fighting noise)
Then I hear poor Dobby getting into it.
"Give me a ride doggy."
"Yes doggy take me to my castle."
And a few minutes later, after taking a short break to listen and watch Coming to America:
"Here daddy, we ready to fight. Hey...we so tired. Let's go to castle."
"Whoa"
"You sleeping. Come on Darth Vader's is coming. Let's say our ABC's"
And the soldiers sing the alphabet song on the top of the castle.
Daddy says, "I'm building a new castle." And they pull out the blocks and start to build.
I love overhearing this. Somehow mommy just can't do the pretend soldier/king/astronaut/Kung Fu fighter/superhero voices like daddy does. And even though I am feeling terrible, I am happy about my boys having some fun Friday night fun on the floor in the living room. I love seeing Lennox's imagination blossom. He has so much fun being a boy with his daddy!

Lions, and Tigers, and Bears! Oh My!
On Friday, Lennox ran off to join the St. John's Preschool Circus. He transformed into a lion. He had been practicing his lion song and roar all week! The whole family came to watch our little king of the jungle.
When his class came in, Lennox was THE MOST excited one in his class. We just heard him ooh-ing and ahh-ing at all the animals and the crowd of people.
He walked in with his class and took a seat within the jungle of lions and elephants.
Then he saw mama and the tears started :-( His teacher scooped him for some lovin', and motioned for me to come and sit with him! Poor little bugger.
Of course, I had to crawl over there to get through the crowd to sit with him and his teacher said I could go up with him while they performed if I wanted to. I talked to him while we waited about how big he was and how he could go up there by himself. I asked him if he wanted to do his lion song. When his class stood up to go up to the front to perform, he said "mama get in the line." I walked with him for just a little bit and then I backed away and luckily he went up with his class. We were all proud of him for being a big boy and going up to perform without me. They sang a little song "We are the lions, the kings of the jungle. Hear us ROAR!"
It was so adorable and so sweet and this is one of the things that we love about his preschool. After the show our little lion attacked daddy.
Here is a close up of his adorable costume :-) After the show, Lennox joined his class for some circus peanuts and he went home with Pop and Den to spend the night! A big day for my ferocious little lion :-) I think we may have to do a Cross Family Circus one day at home for fun!
